Name: “Sniper” Joe
Species: Reploid
Affiliation/Occupation: Maverick Hunter
Hunter Rank: D-Class
Physical Description: Being that he is actually a refitted, unused version of the Sniper Joe robot, he's pretty standard-looking as far as Reploids go. Overall, he wears the same green that the snipers did wear, with the standard white accent. The helmet that he often wears covers his face, with the black visor setting right over his eyes. The red aimer on said visor follows his vision, constantly providing him with information.
His right hand carries with it a fairly defensive shield, colored with the same style, primarily green, with a white border. It has a small visor build into it, allowing him to see, if using it for defense, any approaching enemies. His left hand is often in the shape of a hand, but in the same methodology that several others use, he can, if necessary cause it to turn to a standard blaster, which he uses for short-range combat.
Across his back, he often wears his Sniper Rifle, capable of dealing out serious damage at long range. It carries the similar color scheme of the rest of his body, though the white is more of a light green.
Equipment:
Sniper Rifle – An extremely powerful sniper rifle that Joe wears across his back. It requires concentration and a steady hand, both he has. The weapon is plasma-based, allowing the bullets to pierce most types of armor, and with enough kick to at least harm those who have that armor it won't pierce.
Arm Blaster – In times of need, when opponents draw close, the sniper rifle now pointless, he does have the ability to turn his left hand into a standard blaster. It lacks any ability to charge at all, and is mostly a last line of a defense.
Shield – A heavy shield worn on his right arm, its used primarily for defense. There's also a clear glass plate on it that allows him to see, if he is attempting to avoid the attack. Also, on the face of the shield, it has specific locks for him to brace his sniper rifle on, allowing him to fire even without another surface to brace it on.
Aiming Assistant – The aimer that is a part of his visor allows him to focus supremely on a single target. While he also gets rudimentary information about the surrounding landscape, it's meant for a sniper. He gets constant wind force/directional readings, along with constant data of almost all kinds, making it so he rarely misses his mark.
Skills/Techniques:
Combat Style – As evidenced by the obnoxiously long barrel of the sniper rifle he carries on his back, Joe's primary form of combat involves his long-range sniping abilities. He prefers above all else to fight at range, to keep his enemies away from him, or even better, destroyed before they even see him. However, given that he's still newly inducted into the Maverick Hunters, not to mention that his weaponry is exceedingly outdated, makes it so his presence on the battlefield leaves a bit to be desired.
Talent: Sniper – As he was essentially reconstructed from an old 'Sniper Joe' robot from times long past, he already was designed with sniping in mind. With that build in mind, the Reploid's entire sensory input system is designed to track movements, wind, everything in order to allow him to take the perfect shot.
Talent: Teamwork – The Sniper Joe army were originally well-designed to function as a unit, and that singular features is still well within the way that he's handled. While he can effectively function as a single-standing unit, he performs much more effectively in a team environment, with someone to watch his front and back.
Hyper Mode:
Perfect Calm – Less a Hyper Mode and more a powerful state of 'mind,' Joe simply ceases all processing function on all other parts of his CPU, setting his processor solely for computations for the shot. Effectively, it increases his accuracy immensely, at the cost of being completely unaware of everything else save his target.
Backstory: Joe's backstory goes back quite a long ways. He was one of the many, mass-produced 'Sniper Joe' units that were created as sort of a 'standing army' for Wily. As the 'Wily Wars' were concerned, this particular Joe unit was one that managed to survive, time and time again. He had fought against Megaman a few times over the years, and while he had most of his body destroyed, always enough of his core remained that Wily could extract the data, use it to further the design of the Sniper Joe robots. There wasn't just he that survived; many had, but over the years, less and less remained behind.
Near the end of his lifespan, where he'd been given body after body, and continually he had failed against the one known as Megaman. Yet still Wily believed in the army, and continued to add more and more features to them... until eventually the doctor was no more, and the destroyed Sniper Joe unit simply lay in a field of desiccated parts, no longer viable. He had heard, both from Megaman, and Bass both, that there was something new that both Light and Wily were working on... something to replace robots. Joe was certain that time would never come.
Skip ahead about a hundred years or so, when a young scientist/explorer by the name of Dr. Geoffrey Bennet happened upon the battlefield of one of the many Wily Wars. It wasn't something that he had expected to find, but as he searched through the rubble, he found what appeared to be a mostly-intact (save a few parts) robot that fit the description, rather well, of the Sniper Joe line of robots from time's past. Intrigued, Bennet took the shell back to his own laboratory, where he, out of curiosity, set to work.
He found that, while the body was definitely ancient, rusted with age, it still held incredibly advanced circuitry for something supposedly so ancient. He began to realize, the more that he probed, that this very information he was looking at almost looked like a prototype for a reploid, as if his creator was giving some trial runs into the idea of the Reploid, or trying to make it work entirely on his own. That, of course, made it easy for Bennet to modify what was already there, turning it from an almost-reploid into a true reploid.
The process took only a few months, as most of the ground work had already been laid. Procuring a body was not difficult, and he even had commissioned one made that was similar to the original body that was likely held by the Sniper Joe unit. After everything was said and done, the man got it ready, and flipped the power, allowing the creation that he had worked on for the past few months as a 'pet project' to finally come to life.
At his initial boot up, Joe imprinted Bennet as his creator, and, despite the fact that he did have the fully functional reploid personality, it was based off of his core programming which was still quite robotic. This gave him a very soldier-esque mentality, which Bennet found almost off-putting, given the fact that it was very common for all Reploids to have emotions and even still he seemed to have...none.
Bennet worked with Joe for a few years, and while he developed something of a personality after this time, it was still pretty clear that he was not going to function as others did. He could still think, he had emotion and could process such just like any other Reploid, but he kept it under wraps, for the most part, refusing to wear his emotions on his sleeve.
His own memories were actually mostly intact, but he understood that Wily was no longer a force that was present, and thusly, there was no reason for him to follow him. He had been programmed, at the time, to follow Wily's ideals as they were what he felt was right. However, now that he was able to actually think and feel on his own, the sniper felt that perhaps... it was not the regime that he wanted, but to assist in keeping the world safe from such dangers.
When the Bioroids attacked, Joe agreed to sign up with the Maverick Hunters. However, due to the fact that most of his body was modified with Titanium X, and not made from it, made him a bit of a liability on the battlefield, and thus he was never able to achieve higher than D-Ranking in the Maverick Hunters. He had started to, after the Bioroids finally started to quiet down, work with Bennet in slowly replacing his body parts to be fully crafted from the metal, but he has not yet had a chance to prove himself since that time.
Now, with the danger mostly passed, he hasn't yet had a way to prove that his skills are up to par. However, he is still with the Maverick Hunters, and will likely remain so, even though parts of his mind do hearken back to the 'good old days,' he takes his new job very seriously, and has shown absolutely no signs of defecting to the 'enemy side.'
Personality: Joe has a very cut-and-dry personality. He views things in a rather narrow-minded, right-or-wrong view that leaves many others to question him on occasion. He does not feel that his views are incorrect, wrong, or in any way misrepresenting the Maverick Hunters. The only problem is, he will sometimes take things farther than necessary in order to accomplish a goal, and has a bit of a end-justifies-the-means mentality.
While he won't go so far as to endanger innocents for the sake of a mission, if he's given a directive, he's sure to make sure it succeeds. He feels that removing the Mavericks (or Bioroids) from the equation is more important than the possible collateral damage that may occur. Though he doesn't believe that no innocents will die due to his missions, he also understands that it's very possible for more to die if he allows them to continue their ways.
Still, he finds himself somewhat protective of humans, and does more for them than he does for reploids or cyborgs in danger. He feels that it's likely due to the programming that he received at Wily's hands. However, he doesn't shirk this feeling, and is more than willing to put himself into harm's way in the event that he needs to save a human from any danger. Granted, this has also been used against him in the past, and no doubt will be again in the future.
Additional Information: There will probably be at least one Protomen reference per thread.
