Name: Gale (Revision 1)
Species: Reploid
Affiliation/Occupation: Bounty Hunter
Hunter Rank: N/A
Physical Description:
(I may try my hand at drawing if I feel brave.)
Gale is humanoid and roughly in his 20’s in terms of appearance. He stands at 5’10 being of fairly average height and a simple glance at him would tell that he was built for combat, although he wasn’t originally so. Light Titanium X plates were fitted with a second layer of Foaming Metal to keep his weight down but increase his defense, however it is not as strong as pure Titanium X plating. The most obvious feature is his oversized shoulders which house a pair of hastily fitted thrusters and more armor. His joints have also been strengthened to withstand increased force from high speed maneuvers and shock from high altitude leaps. Finally, a pair of mechanical holsters were fitted onto his hips, housing his weapons and spare ammo.
Specs and nitty gritty aside, Gale’s armor seems more blocky compared to the more elegant rounded armor found on most Reploids nowadays. Unfortunately, this came as a result of neither being designed for the armor nor having the armor designed for him. He was retrofit with battle armor after being damaged and repaired, and the armor is predominately white or grey as there was little time or concern for cosmetics. Under his helmet, he has short unkempt black hair and in battle, a transparent blue visor covers his face while giving him a readout of his current statistics.
Equipment:
Shoulder Boosters: Gale’s shoulder armor cosmetically appears oversized because each house a large propulsion system allowing Gale to quickly side dash for a high speed strafes or irregular maneuvers midair, making him more difficult to hit. Unskilled use however will send Gale plummeting side first into a tree or building as because it was built on rather hastily for retrofitting, Gale lacks stabilizer wings. While the speed may not match up to a full power Bioroid, skillful use will allow more elaborate attack patterns while keeping Gale out of the way of danger.
Backpack Boosters: Gale has another set of two smaller boosters mounted onto his back. By themselves, they can’t do much more than allow Gale to hover above the ground for a short period (one post) before the jets auto-cut to preserve power and propellant. Meant to be worked in tandem with his other boosters.
Leg Boosters: Like many other Reploids, Gale’s legs are oversized, fitting both another set of booster units and shocks to withstand impacts from high latitude falls and jumps. Unlike typical legs however, the boosts are less powerful than normal, meaning that Gale cannot perform normal forward dashes without assistance from his backpack boosters, and even then the period in which he dashes is still slightly shorter. Instead, Gale uses both Leg and Backpack Boosters at maximum output for an instant for high powered boost jump.
Beam Gun/Revolver x2: A pair of hand held pistols that are capable of firing either a particle beam shot or a solid revolver round. The particle beam sacrifices accuracy and size of beam in exchange for rate of fire and portability, and while a single shot won’t do much to armor made out of Titanium X, repeated shots or a solid pistol round immediately after a particle beam shot will. The beams fire semi-automatically and have virtually unlimited power as they draw power from Gale’s reactor through plugs on his palms and the handle. The revolver has 6 shots and break-action reloading with spare bullets kept in speed loaders built into the holster.
Shock Dagger/Bayonet: A pair of folding Titanium X knives also containing a battery which sends an electrical current through them. They can either be hand held and thrown or attached to the Beam Revolver as a bayonet. They won’t cut too deep, but they can be good for disabling targets and won’t cause reactor explosions the way beam sabers tend to. These are mounted onto Gale’s holsters and with a mental command can attach onto the Beam Revolvers pre-drawing.
Holsters: A pair of mechanical holsters have been mounted onto Gale’s hips, mounting his guns. They only release his guns with a mental command to prevent theft and they contain a compartment with two sets of bullets in speed loaders for quick reloading.
Skills/Techniques:
+Speed/Agility: Gale has above average speed and significantly higher agility and maneuverability than typical Reploids, having been designed to try and counteract the speed of Bioroids. While his run speed may not actually be his strong point, high speed bursts of movement, high powered leaps and the ability to make abnormal midair maneuvers make him a force to contend with and a challenge to hit squarely.
+Close Quarters Combat: Gale’s weaponry were clearly designed for medium to close range combat, making him a formidable foe to contend with one on one in his preferred range, however his lack of longer ranged weaponry means he has little choice but to try and close the distance between him and his opponent.
+Burst Damage: Gale’s weapons were designed specifically to deal out damage quickly by using them all at once. A critical hit from Gale would involve immobilizing his target using the electric current from his bayonet before firing a particle beam followed by a solid round at point blank.
-Aim: Aiming was never one of Gale’s particular strong points and it’s even less so while he and an enemy are on the move. His fighting style involves restricting movement with high firing rate before closing into melee range. At long range however, let’s say as long as you stand exactly in front of the target he’s shooting at, you’d be pretty safe.
-Armor: The light Titanium X and Foaming Metal armor was built for speed and won’t shrug off anything too major. Instead, Gale relies on his speed and agility for defense.
-Unstable: While Gale is capable of high speed movements, careless abuse of his thrusters is liable to send him hurtling into a wall or a tree or something as whoever retrofit him for combat either neglected to fit stabilizer wing or deemed them an unnecessary hindrance in combat for reasons unknown. Thus, when he lands, Gale may not necessarily on his feet or even upright for that matter.
Hyper Mode: One will be worked out later and resubmitted for approval.
Backstory:
Initially, Gale was quite a different Reploid. He was not originally meant to be a combat reploid, nor did he have a particularly strong taste for combat. He did however, have some skills at using weaponry though none were actually built into his systems, and he joined the Reploid Police for a short period of time and occasionally fought in smaller scale battles. It didn’t seem that he would get very high in the rankings, but he was fairly satisfied with his job and it was a living. Because he mostly kept out of the more dangerous missions, there wasn’t that much risk of death either, unless something REALLY unexpected happened.
Unfortunately, something very much unexpected did happen in the form of the first Bioroid attacks. Gale was one of the first police force members to come into contact with Bioroids that attacked Abel City where he was stationed. As expected, as a Reploid who wasn’t that suited for combat in the first place, fighting against a fully powered Bioroid was essentially suicidal, but as they were in a city full of defenseless people, running and cowering wasn’t an acceptable option. Gale therefore engaged a Bioroid in battle in an attempt to buy some time for some civilians to escape. He was quickly overwhelmed by the speed of the Bioroids, having never dealt with anything of their kind before and struck down, only surviving before his head and a portion of his torso remained intact.
After being found as a survivor and retrieved, Gale was repaired and retrofit with upgraded weapons and armor to fight against the Bioroids, although notably, the upgrading was done without his notice or permission. As someone who went up against a Bioroid and survived, Gale had some information on them which was needed since nothing about them was known and with the number of police force and Maverick Hunters already dwindling, he wasn’t given a choice. He was fitted with experimental equipment in order to raise his speed, a rather crude and hasty way to try and create an Anti-Bioroid unit. The results proved to be enough for Gale to at least put up a fight in solo combat against a Bioroid, but such simple upgrades hardly proved enough to outright destroy them.
Thus, deemed a failure, Gale was drafted into the Maverick Hunters and was made to fight against Bioroids as support. Ten long years of fighting a battle that Gale simply could not win wore him down mentally, and the moment something resembling peace came over the world again, Gale took the opportunity to leave the Maverick Hunters, developing a distaste for the organization. Since his body wasn’t very suited for many other jobs and he now had quite a bit of combat experience, he became a Bounty Hunter. The rest… Hasn’t actually happened yet.
Personality:
Gale is generally quiet, preferring to keep to himself. He tends to not let many more emotions than annoyance show on his face and speaks pretty bluntly when prompted. He also has a bit of a cynical streak in him and especially shows criticism towards Maverick Hunters as being forced to join them for so long and getting modified for combat without his say so made him rather bitter. Aside from being rather harsh towards Maverick Hunters though, he tends to judge people on a person to person basis, even Bioroids though he kinda distrusts due to their current nature of hiding their true identities and powers, though he doesn’t display any outright hostility towards them. He does find respect for people who have a good sense of justice and he generally refuses to kill or engage in combat that can harm bystanders.
