(Takes place a day before Fury on the Streets)
-------------
"...Where am I?"
For a moment, it became pitch black. He had no idea where he was or why he was floating in a void of nothingness. Was this a dream? Who knows. It felt very unrealistic that's for sure. Though trying to move about, a bright light illuminated the darkness, feeling like it was calling him to drift closer. Wherever he was, heading towards the light was way better than just sitting there in absolute nothing. The light felt quite ominous of course, as he had no idea where it was lead. He couldn't shake off the gut feeling that he should just stay where he was, but overall, he was quite uncomfortable in his current state. There didn't seem to be any other alternative in getting out of there, so he assumed it would be best to ignore his random premonitions and just wing it, gravitating towards the light swiftly...
Within a blinding flash, he was standing up all of a sudden...but something didn't feel right. He couldn't put his finger on it, but as he gazed around at his surroundings, he was at...a playground? The children playing around appeared oddly familiar. Just who were they exactly? But then the strangest thing happened when one of the boys from a distance addressed him by his birth name, Kai. Did he...know that kid? There was a puddle of water on the ground as he just happened to stare directly into it, overall shocked at his appearance. No augmented parts...nothing. He was in his old body. And to make it worse...his child form. That's why he felt so funny...like he shrunk or something. What in the world was going on? As he continued to try and piece this together, the familiar boy approached him directly. As he conversed, the words spoken seemed vaguely familiar as well...like he had it before. He couldn't tell, as his head was all hazy. But then a few more moments, the boy had a sudden incoming fist flying fast, decking him right in the gut as he keeled over in pain. As he tried taking it in, he recalled this moment perfectly now...that was a kid from the orphanage that didn't like him. Well...none of the kids liked him anyway, just that kid in particular had it out personally for him.
Managing to open his eyes, he was once again dumbfounded when the boy vanished completely...and the playground was deserted. Did everyone get called in and he was left behind? He could feel the more older emotions he held build up uncontrollably. The more he sat there, the more that ominous feeling he felt earlier beginning to grate on his nerves. Was he in some kind of different universe or something? Where your mind transfers through time and possess your past self? Nah, that seemed too stupid and unrealistic. However, the sky began to darken with a purplish color and the wind began to pick up fiercely. Worse of all, he couldn't seem to move from that spot. He could shake around, but that was about it. The harsh wind brushing against his child frame, his eyes shut tightly. Hearing a foot step in front of him, he opened his eyes only to see a very odd and frightening sight...Priscilla...reaching her hand out to him. Wait...what?! If he was recalling old events, then why was she here? This didn't make sense...well, the dark sky and wind never happened either, but that was beside the point. He decided to hold out his hand as well to grab hers, but then she vanished into thin air. Now this became freaky...but those emotions accumulated within once more, eventually beginning to weep silently to himself wishing for it all to stop, this kept persisting until he heard...singing?
"That singing...again. Who's doing it?" He couldn't help but find the singing very familiar, and the voice of the invisible woman as well. Where it was coming from and why, he had no idea. Soon, the wind began to calm down and he became soothed by the voice and the melody to where he actually drifted off silently...
----
"...Aaaah!"
Where was he now? He examined his surroundings once more, finally having a sigh of relief as he covered his face with his hand. That stuff really was just a big nightmare, for he was sitting up in the bed of his residence. Ignius leaped onto the bed and sat loyally next to the awakened mercenary to give him a little comfort. That dream...why was it shown to him? And more importantly, he could never find out who that voice belonged to. When he had nightmares like that or similar dreams, that person's voice echoed all within his head to calm him down. While the apparent singer is unknown, he feels a genuine connection to it for some reason. Not wanting to hurt his brain on it any further, he just fell backwards onto his pillow again, shielding his eyes with his forearm as he tried to fall back to sleep and dream about something pleasant for a change.
Though taking his arm from his face, he couldn't help but examine it. While having completely robotic limbs has become natural to him, it still becomes a little awkward to look at when his upper body was still intact. His robotic legs started at the top of his thighs, as that where that Bio-roid severed them. He was always advised by those who perform his current adjustments and such to disconnect the body armor parts for more comfort during sleep, or any time he's resting at home. It made him think about the professor though. It was quite unfortunate that he was killed in an attack about five years ago...as such, he had to be handled by someone else while taking over his duty of providing the mercenary with the proper upgrades and such to his body. Flexing his hand back and forth, Magnus had thoughts of his future rushing through his mind. He abhorred thinking ahead like that, as it would only create nothing but fantasy that unfortunately would be shot down because of life. But...he couldn't just give up from looking for a pursuance of a good future. If he did, he'd just be a quitter...and Magnus is no quitter!
However, he still refrained from moving out of bed. While Ignuis was up there with him, he's slept with having the loyal pet at his feet plenty of time, so he didn't mind at all. As such, he shut his eyes once more just to see if he could rest a little while longer to jump back into gear...until beeping was heard on the side of him. Knowing immediately what it was without even opening his eyes, he reached his arm out to the small desk next to him as he pressed a button to stop the beeping, following the small monitor on the side activated as a caramel hair-colored female reploid appeared on the transmission.
"Morning, sleepy head. Are you still just lying there?" she spoke with a tone of disappointment.
Magnus heard her, but he was too tired to respond. Though still acknowledging her, he just waved his arm once before having it fall back down on the sheets.
"Oh for the love of...IF YOU DON'T WAKE UP THIS INSTANT, I'M GOING TO RUSH OVER THERE AND SHOVE A METTAUR UP YOUR--"
"...Ahh! All right, all right! Just...stop shouting!" He popped open his eyes and sat up, actually scaring Ignius off the bed. "Seriously, Emilie...you could be my alarm clock."
"...You sure sleep soundly enough. For a grown man, you sleep like a little boy." Clearing her throat, the hot-tempered woman gazed downwards at something she was examining on her side as she continued. "Anyway, meet me ASAP in front of the central library. I have a job for you."
"Uh...can't you just...relay it here--"
"...Within thirty minutes. Be late and I'll haunt you all day. Breaking transmission..."
After the transmission clicked off on it's own, Magnus merely sighed as he allowed his feet touch the floor, having his face planted into the palm of his hands. But he knew how serious Emilie was about being late for stuff, so he just had to go on to get ready and freshen up before leaving. Just another day, so he just had to endure...

Despite the rather awkward awakening, the morning sunshine was at least able to place a bright smile on the troubled merc's face. It was quite the walk from his residence to the city's interior since his house actually resided on the outskirts of the city. It was quite the beautiful day for a nice little stroll through. Ignius certainly was enjoying his walk though. The mechanical dog did gain plenty of exercise to make sure he's in proper form to function impressively enough. Magnus really loves his companion though. While he never possessed the opportunity to have a pet as a kid, he was fortunate to have a loyal one like Ignius...and a smart one at that! The things Ignius did sometimes really astound him. It felt real good to have him at his side. The ninja didn't know where he'd be without his companion ever since the day he saved him after that bio-roid left him to die. While life can be tough at times, at least there were brights sides of things that he could look forward to.
So the two cut the corner and witnessed the central library from a distance...and for some reason no Emilie in sight. Approaching the the steps that led upward to the library itself, a sigh escaped him while pacing over to some nearby bushes. He did realize by looking at the time that he was actually a few minutes late than she specified...but it appeared that it wasn't a problem. Taking a seat on the structure in front of the bushes, he rested his chin in the palm of his hand as he awaited patiently. "Geez...she tells me not to be late and she's not even here herself...hypocrite--"
"...A hypocrite, you say? Oh my, I never noticed..."
"Wh-wha...?!" He heard Emilie's voice whisper behind him as he heard the bushes rattle around and someone latching onto his back!
"By the way, you're laaaaaate! Allow the haunting to commence!!" She latched on tighter as she playfully changed her tone to a more sinister one.
"GAH! AHHHHHHHHHH!" The frightened gynophobic merc had risen from the structure like he was being nommed on by a hungry bear, running around in a complete circle a couple of times before falling down helplessly to the sidewalk flat on his chest, shivering all over with frozen terror as if he wanted to faint. The nearby citizens had to momentarily stop what they were doing to witness the whole thing. "Y-you...y-y-y-you're a m-monsterrr...ahh..."
"Now...that ought to teach you to take my deadlines more seriously. Is that...clear?" She still kept the evilish tone in her voice, but lifted herself off the merc's back as she activated a transparent cyber clipboard like a drop down menu on a computer.
Magnus was rising slowly, but staggering a bit. Still shivering, he gave her a cold stare while folding his arms around himself. "Ahh...what the hell are you?! A demon?"
"No, I'm the daughter of Sigma." she stated with a sarcastic chuckle.
"Th-that's even worse!" It was all over though. He had to calm down in order to move on with business. The faster he got done with this, the sooner he could escape her. Managing to succeed at the most, he displayed a sigh of relief before getting down to business. "...If you're done playing around, may I have the job specs? Dunno why you couldn't just relay it while I was at home."
"Because you were going to forget. I want this to be fresh in your mind...and you know I wanted to help you get over that ridiculous fear of yours." Skimming through the info displayed in front of her as she sighed heavily, she adjusted her vision on the screen as she began reading aloud the content of importance. "According to the job description, an arms dealer has been seeing difficulties with Rogue Mavericks for the past few days. He claims they've been attacking his shop various times trying to steal a secret weapon in his possession that he treasures. While a hunter squad is investigating the dealer on the weapon itself, as it raised suspicion, you are to track down the rouges in the mean time to a suspected location I've already provided for you and apprehend them at once for the dealer's sake, though don't hesitate to eliminate if they're too aggressive, for it won't be easy. They're a fairly small, yet dexterous group from their description. But your own skill specs prove to be able to handle them alone. You'll receive payment from the dealer after they're taken down."
Crossing his arms as he took in the info, he couldn't help but become curious of these rogues. There's been a lot of problems with those kind of Mavericks lately. Since they don't appear to be too much of a threat to the hunters themselves, he could kind of see how the job was passed off to simple mercenaries like himself to earn some zenny. That was at least one thing he could be grateful to the organization for though. While they could handle these jobs easily, it was quite generous to have outsiders like him who have to rely on taking up jobs like this to make a living. Of course, when a situation turns dire, he has a chance to be hired for additional numbers to handle a scene, though that doesn't happen too often unless the Class S Hunters like Zero are busy.
Either way, he simply nodded his head. "All right. Sounds pretty straight forward." He turned his gaze downward to his partner, giving him a confident smile. "Ya ready, boy? Let's go!"
The dog responded with a chipper bark, already prepared on standby to get moving whenever he was ready. As Magnus waved farewell to Emilie, the hot-tempered support reploid began pacing closer to the merc as she settled for a frown on her face. "Better watch yourself, Magnus. If you don't come back, I'll literally... haunt you." She proceeded to cracking her knuckles, approaching closer.
"F-fine! Just...stay away from me!" He panicked a little, taking a few steps away backwards in the opposite direction.
"Then go...or else!" She stretched her arms out like she was going to pounce him again, being in very close quarters to where he's usually afraid the most.
"Ah...AHHHHHHH!" He blazed off on the sidewalk, even poor Ignius having trouble keeping up with him. All that ran through his mind was to get the heck away from Emilie and get this thing over with in time to go back home and drown this all away with some good food. He hadn't eaten all morning!

Following the coordinates exactly, the mercenary creeped his way between the alleyways of adjacent buildings on his way to the warehouse where those rogues are supposedly hiding out. It was only a few buildings away, but he had to survey the area and find another entrance into the building first. If they were this easy to find, then it obviously meant they may have set up a trap for anyone who might attempt to enter...though that's assuming if they were even in there to begin with. Emilie did say it was only a suspected, but highly likely location for them to be hanging out. He would have contacted her to have her help navigate him through since he's going in there blind, but he had to maintain silence on the comm. link if he's trying to sneak in there effectively. However, lone infiltration was one of his specialties, otherwise he couldn't call himself a ninja.
It certainly was quiet though. Of course, this warehouse and the buildings around it were abandoned structures on this side of the city. He had a chill feeling run down his spine for a moment, examining his surroundings back and forth. It was beginning to become apparent that he was being watched or monitored from somewhere else, but he couldn't jump to conclusions just yet. Needing to move on regardless, he went for a small sprint towards another building, keeping his stealth in check with his nearly silent footsteps. Ducking to the pathway between the next building and the one next to it, he checked his surroundings once more before proceeding to the next set of buildings in the same fashion. It was then that when he arrived at the corner of the next one that he finally spotted the warehouse, which was crammed in between the rest of the abandoned buildings. How to approach...this was just too easy to say these guys are supposed to be skilled rogues. He just had to be falling into some kind of trap. But the only way to test it was to keep proceeding.
...And he was correct. The moment he stepped out, something flew past his cheek when he barely dodged it. Looking sideways to the kunai now stabbed into the nearby wall, he had to smirk a little. So these rogue mavericks were shinobi-types. That just made things more interesting. It's no wonder Emilie saw him fit for this kind of job. You had to fight fire with fire in a situation like this. But that was going to be tough, as a lone ninja against multiple ones was always quite difficult, as you had to outwit the others to eliminate them. Yeah, chances are he had to take them down anyway. He just had a sixth sense of noticing when a fight's going to turn REAL bloody fast. But now it was his turn to make a move. He had no idea on the exact numbers of these rogues, so he had to just snuff them out from hiding by going to them and playing them at their own game. Most likely one of them were near and had intentions for attempting an assassination move, so he had to keep moving to avoid that. Even with his agility, it's difficult for anyone to avoid an instant death blow that comes at you quicker than a split second. Activating his helmet and mask, Magnus hit a dash to an alley of the two nearby buildings, planning on circulating the areas carefully around the warehouse so they could lose him.
That plan soon had to be worked on again, as several shurikens hurled at him from a broken window of one of the buildings. He dodged most of them, then cancelled the rest out with his own shurikens when they narrowly closed in on him. The ninja rogue leaped out the window shortly afterwards, locking on Magnus for a quick airborne strike from the blade he brandished. The mercenary held his ground, blocking the incoming attack while bracing himself for the collision of swords. He bounced backwards from the impact and the rogue slid backwards after landing. It was just a stare down now, but Magnus blurred into motion with an unexpected dash, striking the roid's blade countless times viciously. They went at it for a few times with parrying each other attacks, but Magnus gained the upper hand when the rogue missed with his strike entirely. The ninja borg closed in for the finish to take advantage of the opening, brutally thrusting his weapon clean through his enemy's chest area. He followed it up by ripping the sword out with another upwards swing, splitting the roid's upper half in two before dropping him as a lifeless corpse.
Hmm...how to proceed now? From the looks of it, that was the only rogue in his general area. Others must me waiting nearby to ambush him as well, though he doubt it would be an easy one-on-one like what happened just then. Simply had to proceed calmly and quickly if he didn't want his head severed from his shoulders.

Odd...not a single rogue in sight.
He'd been dashing forth between these buildings for quite a while, but it seemed deserted again like earlier. Emilie certainly wasn't kidding about these rogues being skilled, as they must have something else in store for him. But where could they be? It would have been very convenient if he possessed some tracking gear, but he was a strict blade specialist, not a navigator. But that's where those shinobi senses had to kick in to track his enemies. That was the main issue, however. These guys were shinobi-types as well, for they leave little trace behind to avoid being discovered. Stealth vs stealth, eh? He just had to watch his back and above him. Those were key points where any trained killer could snag an instant death blow if their target wasn't properly prepared for the assault. If anything, if he found any of them and he himself wasn't spotted, he should pull off some assassination attempts himself to gain an edge. But since Emilie stated this group was small, it would be difficult to find ANY of them slacking off like that.
But it was time to stop sneaking around out in the open and begin lurking in the shadows. Halting his sprint, he planted his feet into the ground, squatting slightly before rocketing himself off the ground upwards and towards a broken window nearby. Landing inside, the interior was dark, but not pitch black. The light from outside was providing enough visibility. However, it was time to wait it out for a while. He figured if they didn't spot him over an extended period, they'd reveal themselves. It didn't seem like they possessed any kind of tracking or monitoring devices either, as they would have found him ages ago and trapped him more effectively than just randomly creeping up on him. Really, all he desired was to find one and play around with him for a bit to lure the others out of hiding. At least then, he'd have a legitimate head count and take them out before heading directly to the warehouse.
He allowed several minutes going on half an hour waiting it out. He peeped his head slightly out the window, enough to still spot the area most visible to him without being spotted himself. It was beginning to get boring just waiting out like this. He could just scream to the bottom of his lungs, "HEY! HERE I AM! LET'S PROCEED TO STABBING EACH OTHER NOW!" but they'd gang up and kill him so fast it wouldn't even be funny. Though suddenly, a lone roid leaped from out of nowhere, then proceeding to creeping narrowly to a wall as he was heading towards Magnus's direction. He'd take him out if there were more than one of them, but lucky him, another one appeared on the opposite side doing the same thing as his partner. Perfect.
Positioning himself just right, he awaited the closest one to approach, gripping the hilt of his Phoenix Edge while it was still enclosed in it's sheath and allowed his left hand to rest across his waist and into his shuriken pack, grabbing hold of a kunai within meant for the second target. It was time...
Then swiftly like the wind, Magnus dived down on his unsuspecting victim. The moment he drew his blade upon contact, it was already over. The roid's head came flying clean off his shoulders with the common ninja assassination attack. Unless they were already prepared, the target's fate was almost certain. Most, if not all shinobi knew how to do it properly. To make up for the lack of brute strength, a ninja must know all the fragile points of the enemy, both human and machine, to fight effectively. Despite their stronger exterior, Reploids possessed nearly the same weak points as humans, just that it overall required the right equipment to damage Titanium X alloy.
Landing upon the fall of his target, the ninja 'borg tossed a kunai at the other approaching rogue to halt him in place for only a second to give himself some recovery time. The rogue stopped as expected to dodge the projectile, however Magnus took off leaving only a trail of dust behind him. He didn't speed up to his max because he didn't want to lose his target and the little game of Tom and Jerry wouldn't begin. Once again as expected, the rogue was tailing him constantly. He just didn't let up at all. It was time to lure the others out. Purposely running to a dead end alley, Magnus halted his momentum entirely to leap between both walls upwards acrobatically until he reached the rooftops, witnessing the ninja rogue doing the same a split second afterwards before deciding to take off again to keep distance between them.
Though surprise, surprise! Three more rogues barred his path at the top. Well...that only worked for a while. They didn't make any movements, for the other rogue chasing him arrived and held his position behind him as well.
"...Nothing but a hired sword, eh? You've managed to take down two of us, so I have to at least give you your props." The one in the middle of the trio boldly stepped to the plate and commented as he drew twin daggers. "Still feeling confident you can kill us all now? 'Cause we're not going down without a fight."
Magnus merely kept his lips shut, still having his own blade beside him as he braced himself. They began to close in on him slowly, but still refraining from making any hasty moves.
"Unable to talk? I'm certain you're just afraid for your life, human. While you're half machine as well, you're still nothing but a fragile piece of meat."
"...Done? For a shinobi bot, you sure do talk a lot." He snapped back, getting in stance. He had to admit though...taking on all four of them at once, he was at a huge disadvantage. While he could still possibly take them all down four-on-one, he definitely wouldn't come out of it unscathed. And not even knowing how many of them are left, he needed to be in at least decent condition to finish the job. Though counting how many he's encounter total, that'd make six...and Emilie said this was a very small group. Either this really was all of them or most of them. "Though since you like to talk so much, how about telling me how many more of you guys are waiting to ambush me?"
The apparent leader chuckled as he spun his daggers around. "Hah! You're quite the idiot if you'd think we'd tell you that. Though...since you WILL meet your end here, I can at least grant your final request."
"That's precisely why I asked." Magnus smirked under his mask. He figured these guys were confident enough to believe they've automatically snagged victory just because their numbers conquered his own.
"Even if you manage to defeat us all, you've still got the boss to worry about...and he's three times more skilled than all of us. Think you can handle him, tough guy?"
Maintaining a battle-ready stare, the ninja 'borg acquired all the information he needed. "We'll see. Now...come on!"

Theme of battle!Within a few moments, Magnus dropped from the building itself and kicked his feet into it's walls. It was then that he began to use his ninja ability and run downwards on them. Thankfully since he's descending, he didn't have to worry about falling off as opposed to running upward or sideways where he has to eventually leap off due to his current limitations. Just he was descending, he noticed the four shinobi bots doing the same thing, chasing after him in hot pursuit down the building. Before touching the ground, he leaped off the wall and darted three shurikens at his opponents before flipping around and landing on his feet. The leader and two of the lackeys dodged them, but one of the stars stabbed the last one directly in his forehead as he tumbled down to the ground, yet still alive and momentarily stunned. The currently remaining three stood tall after rising to their feet following their landing. The leader of the pack smiled as his own ninja mask activated for battle, immediately tossing several throwing stars at the fiery ninja borg. Since he was already fully alert, Magnus blurred into motion to his right to dodge the incoming projectiles and keep steady movement. Suddenly, the two lackeys dashed towards the moving cyborg, having their blades ready. Magnus halted in his tracks and drawn the Phoenix Edge as the flames erupted from the katana-styled blade. In order to battle these guys alone, he had to make use of his acceleration system, as his mobility out-performed theirs individually. As such, he burst forth with a quick sprint as if he faded away for a split second before reappearing. He swung his blade as he spun around in the air, for he followed his sprint up with a forward jump. His sword smashed upon the shinobi bot's own blades as they blocked for dear life. They took advantage of his momentary recovering from the landing and attempted to double team him by going in for a swift vertical swing of their swords. Magnus didn't want to take any unnecessary damage, so he dodged one's attack while parrying the other's, then roundhouse kicking him to where he crashed into his partner. Though before Magnus could even move, he noticed a strange kunai being thrown at him from the leader. He barely escaped it, but as it landed on the ground next to his foot, he noticed something was attached to it...then he realized it was an incendiary shuriken with an explosive attached! However, it was too late to react...as it exploded a second later while he tried to step away. He was caught by the explosion itself and the shock wave pushed him back yards away. He hit the ground hard on his chest as smoke covered his body. Luckily for him, his body (save his organic parts) and his dark coat was flame resistant and actually absorbed some of the damage to minimize his injuries. He wasn't bloodied up, but he had plenty damages to his synthetic parts, as well as cuts and some dirtied spots on his skin. That was a close call. As he began to rise, he noticed the third lackey recovered from the shuriken to the face earlier and joined with his recovered brothers. The leader took lead once more as they slowly approached. "...What's the matter, hot shot? Thought you were tougher than THIS if you could effortlessly take out two of my pals earlier!" the leader taunted as he witnessed Magnus struggling to rise. The ninja borg was tired of this battle already, realizing he hadn't manage to take out even one of them yet. But if their boss really was all that was left in the warehouse...and probably a few more ninja hiding as well, he figured it was time to take it to the next level. As he stood on his feet, he sheathed his weapon for the moment and closed his hands together. Then a moment later, he began to perform multiple Ninjitsu symbols with his hands before slapping his hands back together while making a symbol with his combined fingers. "...Shadow Flare!" Magnus yelled as flames escaped from his arms and split into two large fire balls that landed on the ground right on each side of him. Then mere moments later, his fire clones emerged...as he decided to use his Shadow Flare System to end this quickly. While the fire clones possess only 1/3 of his strength, he needed to keep the opponents at bay. Afterward, the clones locked onto two of the lackeys as he pointed his finger forth while he began to recover the lost stamina he required to create them. The two closed in with the ninja bots after dashing past the leader, as they at least maintained Magnus's speed. They battle the bots fiercely and without pause, the other shinobi bot joining in to help his comrades. The leader chose to ignore them and kept his sights on Magnus as he approached with his twin daggers. "...You've got tricks. Nice. But did you do that just to fight me one-on-one? Because that was a mistake--"Magnus cut the leader's words short by throwing a kunai right at him, not quite ready to move yet. "...Man, you seriously talk too much." He spoke with a tone of slight exhaustion. The leader deflected the projectile with ease and proceeded to have a stare down with the lone ninja. It was then that Magnus recovered his strength and smirked under his ninja mask...activating his acceleration system once more and dashed pass the leader at a blinding speed, heading straight for the other battle. He sneaked up on one of the lackeys and leaped high, placing his foot atop enemy's head, then immediately kick-jumping off to back flip in mid-air. Finally, he brought both his blade and himself down with an attack nearly as quick as a lightning strike, the Phoenix Edge cleaving through the shinobi bot from head to toe down in the middle. The severed body fell right after as a lifeless corpse before he dashed towards another his fire clone was fighting after it was defeated with a single slash from the second bot, since the clones are extremely fragile. The bot was thrown off guard as Magnus quickly assassinated him by decapitation on the spot. The last remaining lackey continued to fight off the clone, but then he realized as he locked blades with the fire blade in the shape of Magnus's weapon, the real ninja was standing right behind him and was readying his sword. Then right on cue, both Magnus and his clone dashed right through the bot as he was severed into four. Afterwards, the clone exhausted it's energy and vanished. Feeling relieved he took out the lackies in one go, he couldn't believe he had to resort to his Ninjitsu via his Shadow Flare so early...but it got the job done. He confronted the leader as he got into a fighting stance. "...If that answers your previous question, yes. Let's settle this one-on-one."His opponent laughed with amusement as he positioned himself in place as well, spinning his titanium X daggers once as his eyes flared fiendishly. "With pleasure!"

The two fought vigorously as they each went at each other blow for blow. This shinobi bot was actually giving the cyborg a pretty nice challenge to say he's supposed to be making short work of him and heading for the warehouse. Every time he attacked, the bot would use his second dagger to lock each other in place until they back off each other. Every encounter was the same and it was soon beginning to turn stale. While it was a good challenge, Magnus wanted to end this fight as soon as possible before he suffers any serious injuries. If he does, he's going to find it extremely difficult to survive the rest of the way. He would use his full speed to his advantage, but too much over usage of his acceleration system tires him out...and he needed to save that energy for later. Especially since he had to resort to Shadow Flare so early on as well.
While he was sitting there strategizing to himself, the shinobi bot closed in for another close up encounter. It was time to put those quick thinking skills to the test, for Magnus blocked the incoming assault, then leaped backwards to release another set a shurikens that caused his opponent to nearly trip over himself out of surprise. The three kunai knives stabbed straight through his opponent's chest, but he seemed to be going through an adrenaline rush, rushing forth immediately despite the projectiles stuck in his body. His relentless assaults aimed straight for Magnus's weapon, which he blocked for dear life to avoid giving the crazed bot an opening. It was quite difficult to try and break free from the attacks without getting cut by the daggers. There had to be a way to finish this...and quickly before he's sliced to pieces.
...then an idea struck. The old boomer trick. Magnus used his leg to clip the enemy off his feet, since his reckless charge provided an opening for a leg sweep. He back flipped several times to gain a fair amount of distance, then quickly released his Windmill Shuriken from off the back of his utility belt, spinning it around as the flames produced from his inner energy began to form around the blades. When the enemy rose, Magnus hurled the large shuriken at his opponent as it's fierce and fiery spinning sounded like it was ripping through the air itself. His opponent leaped high in the air to dodge the windmill shuriken with ease and rushed towards Magnus in hot pursuit. Placing a slight frown of frustration, the ninja borg continued to fight off the endless assault of his opponent.
"HAH HAH! What's the matter, human?! Can't take the pressure? How about you show me some more tricks!" the fired up shinobi bot shouted within every strike he made.
"...Tricks, huh? All right. I've got one more for ya..." Afterwards, Magnus once again smirked under his mask, finally kicking it into high gear as he held nothing back at attacking with his full speed. While they went at it endlessly, Magnus purposely slid his leg to the right and hit one of the daggers out of the opponent's hand while pushing himself far into the same direction and out of range...for the windmill shuriken returned like a boomerang and with it's gathered force from swing back around, it sliced clean through the Reploid effortlessly, severing him in half as his upper body fell to the ground. The shuriken returned to the mercenary's hand when it's spinning slowed down, then he walked to the near dead shinobi bot.
"...Such a waste. What are you guys fighting for? I came here with the intention to apprehend...not pile bodies on top of each other." Magnus spoke with much disappointment in his tone. This was a fine example of how the ninja borg had a 360 change of personality during battle. While fighting, his merciless intent increased ten fold while outside of it, he returned to his normal, kind and compassionate self...actually failing to see the point of the battle he just concluded.
"Heh...just business, man. The look in those eyes of yours...they're much different than before. You're no ordinary human...are you? Must be...those cybernetic parts..." the dying shinobi bot continued to talk as his life force began to quickly drain. "...No matter. The boss knows you're here...while we're gone...he can always...hire more lackeys to do...his dirty work...but hey. He's kind of a bastard so...I don't care what happens to him. The look in your eyes earlier though...so much fire...that's how a ninja's eyes is supposed to look. Never thought...I'd see a human fight like this again. Before you fight the boss...ya better change your attitude back to the way it was before...if you want to...survive..."
With all the talking he did, the bot sped up his death, for his stopped functioning altogether. While he didn't return a single word during the stumbling words, Magnus listened to every bit of it as he gazed downward on the lifeless Reploid. That rogue was different from the rest he's encountered...like he had some sort of insight on one's character once he analyzed their personality more...and he seemed to finally figure the cyborg out before he passed away. Magnus had no idea why during battle, he became much more brutal than his usual. It could have been an after effect from the war, for he's seen too many things during the decade of fighting to remain his usual self. Every time he battles, he's afraid of something or someone else ending up hurt or killed by any kind of failure...perhaps that's way he holds nothing back once the challenge is met. Taking a final look at the dead bodies around here was proof of that...but in a way, a ninja's supposed to be merciless, otherwise he couldn't call himself a shinobi.
His fighting style is long abandoned and is mostly passed off to people like rogues...not too many humans follow the way of the ninja anymore. Or rather, it's an obsolete style people have abandoned for a more simpler and modern way. But when he first took up learning the style, he felt it was a better fit than anything to grow stronger the way he desired...and no matter how the past haunts him, he wasn't going to allow that to stop him from changing his way. If he had to be merciless to live, then he doesn't have to question it anymore...and it's only during battle and times of extreme emergence anyway.
A few more moments passed as he tapped his ear piece with his finger, giving off the silent signal for his canine companion to arrive so he can restock on his shurikens and kunais. He used quite a bit of them in this battle alone...and if this boss of theirs is tough as he sounds, then he might as well take a breather while waiting for Ignius too so he can regain all his strength. His injuries were mild at best, so they shouldn't hinder him.

It took several minutes, but after Ignius arrived and he restocked on his throwing stars, he just took some time to rest before setting out to end this once and for all. He sincerely hoped that he could just make the leader surrender before the battle even starts...for if he couldn't, he wouldn't be able to stop himself from murdering the opponent if said person wasn't going to hold back themselves. That's if he was strong enough to handle this person, for his little followers seem to hold him high in skill despite their apparent disliking for his character. If one thing, this little encounter should prove interesting, as he wonders just how bad this guy could be.
...But putting aside guessing how things will go, Magnus figured it'd be best to just get a move on and get this over with. With his canine partner now gone so he couldn't be caught up in the combat, Magnus retraced his steps throughout the entire complex of abandoned buildings and remembered the route to the warehouse, now running at a quick pace, but not using his acceleration system, for he required to save his energy. So instead, he just relied on his default ninja agility alone to get there as quick as possible while still being in top form. Didn't hurt to be prepared for the worst, right?
Finally re-arriving at the spot where the shuriken blade was previously thrown at him before, he gazed at the abandoned warehouse for a few moments before taking steps forth. No signs of traps so far. Was the leader truly waiting on him to come? He still didn't like how quiet it was. While their group was small, there couldn't be just six of them excluding their boss. Unless they really were dependent on tiny numbers...which makes since for shinobi. A large group would only attrach attention. But enough thinking to himself, as he approached the two broken double doors that he had to force open with his own strength.
As he walked right in, it was dark, but the morning light was able to allow some decent visibility. He noticed something moving above him, actually anticipating what it was as he stood completely still on purpose. Then as he expected, two more shinobi bots leaped from above and attempted to behead him. But one swift motion leaping backwards, he dodged the assassination attempt, but one of the ninja were too far up, as he ended up decapitating his own ally completely mistake. While Magnus felt a little bad about it, he had no choice but to take advantage of the confusion and finished it quickly, slicing horizontally three times to hit three vital points on the reploid, the neck and sides near the torso, and dropped him dead on the spot. But what really caught his attention after the sudden battle was a large unlit and ancient-looking torch in the far side of the warehouse...actually giggling to himself a bit.
"...Hah. How old-fashioned." He remarked as he took out a throwing star and lit the entire projectile on fire as he tossed it perfectly into the torch, relying on his aiming abilities with his projectiles for it land directly into the torch, which something inside of it caused the entire top of it to ignite and illuminate the entire warehouse, which apparently lacked electricity. Now he had a clear view of all his surroundings; the warehouse was quite empty and had a large open space in the center of it. He stepped forth until he arrived at the little clearing and halted as he heard clapping from above, though it seemed more machine than human clapping and then spotted a lone roid at the top.
"...Impressive, for a human. All eight of my followers, destroyed." his rather deep voice seemed to echo through the empty warehouse as he acrobatically leaped from above and landed in front of Magnus. The rouge leader seemed to have a different design compared to the others. While he had a typical reploid appearance, his ninja helmet and mask were built onto his synthetic skin, making them both seem unremovable and also making his voice more concealed like he was talking through a suit of armor. He also seemed to style a red cape for some reason. That was new. He didn't see too many cape people these days other than those who liked to play super hero or super villain.
"...So you're the leader, huh? Look...once we fight, I'm not holding anything back or sparing your life. I'm only here to take you in for a job, not kill you." Magnus spoke with much earnest, placing a very serious expression on his face. "...So just give up...or do you really want to do this? If that's the case, then I'll just save my breath..."
The shinobi leader stood silent for a few moments, closing his eyes and resting his hand on the hilt of his japanese-styled sword that was enclosed in a sheath on his back, obviously just designed like that befitting a ninja, but Magnus was sure the weapon was like his own, made with strong modern materials. "...Even if I wanted to quit, I have been programmed to be a scum to which no one likes. A Maverick. And while my small brigade is no more, me handing in the towel won't exactly make things easier for you, human." the shinobi was actually serious, looking Magnus dead in the eyes now. "...We are simply a small gang that's branched off from a much bigger group. In other words, the moment you stepped foot in our territory and somehow miraculously escaped with your life, you would be a personal enemy of us simple band of rogues anyway. My eyes themselves are video cameras that my own master sees you through. If you defeat me or if I just turn myself in, you are still in danger of other members of our secret organization seeking your head for opposing us...for anyone who dare challenges us are mortal enemies of our cause, no matter their reason for fighting us. So if you have anyone to hate here, then loathe your employer who gave you this task...but you can always avert your fate if you join us...yes, a shinobi with potential such as yourself would make a fine addition to our group. So...what do you say? Make the logical decision, human...for your life depends on it at this point."
Magnus himself didn't return a word back during the rogue maverick's explanation. So...these guys weren't ordinary brigands after all. But he couldn't blame the arms dealer for wanting to protect his shop...for he didn't know who these rogues were. But he's now a personal enemy of them now...even if he kills this one in front of him or not. But he smiled under his mask as he unleashed his Phoenix Edge once more for battle.
"...If that's the case, then bring it! I'll just take you guys out every time you come for me...and this way, I'll at least be able to rid this world from scum such as yourselves so you can't harm people anymore. Besides...I'm not one to back down from a challenge." Magnus snapped back instantly, setting his blade ablaze as he stood by for combat.
"...Such naviette...but I like your attitude and confidence. A shame we can't be allies...but very well. Show me the skill that defeated my brothers if you want to walk out of here alive!" the ninja leader held his sword out in front of him, holding it in an old fighting stance that those samurai in the distant past would take. So, this was one more person he had to kill today...but at least this time, he didn't have to feel bad about it. These guys are pretty shady...and if he doesn't fight, then they could harm other people. Innocent people.

Battle ThemeMagnus remained calmly and silently in stance, so did the samurai leader of this little gang. They both were at a stare down, waiting for one or the other to make the first move. The cyborg had to be careful with this one compered to the rest though. The fighting style of the samurai...a rather ancient fighting style that was just as dangerous as the ninja. But that's where he was at a disadvantage. He's never seen the old style in actual combat experience minus fictional means of seeing it. "...Come!" The leader stood straight and raised his sword over his head, though still having the blade in samurai-stance. His sword began to have powerful surges of lightning-based energy around it's blade and with one might swing, pillars of electricity were released and aimed straight for their target. Surprised by the enormous amount of control the guy had over such power, Magnus couldn't possibly take that head on. He flipped to his side multiple times, each movement faster than the previous as he successfully evaded all the pillars of lightning. Afterwards, he had to take advantage of the opening his opponent had, setting the Phoenix Edge ablaze and dashing forth at mach speed. The leader saw him coming, but Magnus halted his momentum to trick his opponent up, then released another sudden burst of speed as he darted himself at the opponent and spun around with his fiery katana. This actually worked, though it forced the leader to parry the blow with all his strength applied. The sparks flew from the clash of blades, the elements of fire and lightning crashing upon each other fiercely. The leader slid off Magnus's sword and back flipped upwards in the air. Magnus used this to his advantage and quickly grabbed three shurikens and set them ablaze like tiny flame wheels, flicking them upwards with a instantaneous motion. He didn't expect his opponent to react so quickly though, as the moment the leader seen the shurikens, he spun his blade with both hands rapidly as the flaming shurikens were deflected effortlessly before landing atop the platform he previously stood before the ninja borg entered this place. He then stood in place, taunting Magnus by making a gesture with waving his hand towards himself. Magnus smiled under his mask once more, leaping forth with his ninja ability on the piles of junk in the warehouse back and forth until he reached the top and was in another confrontation with the samurai bot. After he sprinted forth again, they both traded blow after blow with their swords, parrying and countering each other's movements in rapid paced movement speed to where if one were watching, it'd be hard to keep up with who's attacks are who's, as the slicing motions of swords became so fast that their weapons couldn't be seen in their hands. They both ended the barrage of assaults by clashing and locking their blades against each other as both tried to overpower the other. Magnus was witnessing first hand how the samurai-style worked, for when it came to physical strength alone, he was being easily overpowered as the reploid's sword pushing his own back towards him. The shinobi then used his speed to release himself and slide in between the reploid's legs, then attempted to attack from behind. Desperately trying to save himself from being stabbed, the samurai bot twisted his body around while leaping back, then spun his blade viciously as the wild attack sliced clean through the platform they were standing on, the structure being severed where he cut it and both sides of it began to hang down like a broken bridge. As a result, it forced the two to fall back down to ground level and without wasting any time after recovering from the fall, they went at it again as they traded more blows. Looks like Magnus had no choice but to use his advanced acceleration system to it's limits already, every attack he dealt was followed up by him blurring into motion as if he was fading in and out like teleporting, but not quite. He burst forth with a jump strike that struck the opponent's blade, then dashed in mid-air behind the opponent after sliding of his blade, then delivering two swift strikes towards two vital point on the reploid's body. The samurai bot was being overwhelmed by Magnus's blinding agility that he was forced to spin around viciously with his sword several times until his sword smashed upon the Phoenix Edge and caused Magnus to be pushed off and with a good distance in between the two. "...Impressive mobility. No wonder the way of the ninja originated with humans..." the samurai roid complimented as he held his side with his free arm, that being one of the weak points Magnus struck. "...You're going to be bothersome if I don't go all out!" Suddenly, his body lit up with an illuminating red light, then crimson lightning began surging all over as his weapon super charged with red lightning. Ripping off his red cape as he tossed it away, he returned to his stance. "...Ready for round two?!"Magnus witnessed this as he had a sweat drop fall on the side of his face. Looks like it was going to be a lot more important to not take a clean hit from this guy. After all, his attacks were just as fatal and critical as his own. He set his Phoenix Edge ablaze once more and stood ready. If he had to resort to his ninjutsu, he'd have to wait it out since it consumes his energy pretty greatly with each usage.

The time was drawing near. The crackling thunder emitting from that weapon of the samurai bot was impressive, yet Magnus knew how dangerous it was based on how his enemy used it before he tapped into it's full power. As strong as it may have been, the ninja borg activated his ninja helmet once more and stood there as he waited patiently for his opponent to make a move. While the weapon was powerful and the ninja's own fiery sword likely not being able to match that sort of power, his own strength lies within the cybernetics. If he were to rival this power, then he had to do so with his own.
The samurai roid struck the ground as electrifying shock waves traveled towards the mercenary, tearing the very structure beneath them as it roared towards it's target. Thinking fast, Magnus was outrunning it for a bit until he was between two pillars, then used his ninja ability to hop back and forth upwards between them to dodge the waves. Since he was in no position whatsoever to drop down fast enough to get back to where he was to counter, he proceeded up the two pillars until he reached another platform atop the ceiling similar to the one they broke early. The samurai realized this and with jet boosters activating on his back, he soared towards the platform at high-speed as he intercepted the cyborg in his tracks. He came at Magnus with a spinning attack with his super charged blade. It would be dangerous to even try to block something like that, so the ninja ducked and hit the platform as the enemy and his sword flew right above him; barely.
Just as he risen, he took a kunai knife coated in his own fire and darted it towards the flying samurai roid as he turned around and appeared like he was going to dive down on him. The enemy spun around so viciously that the kunai was deflected with ease. The leader was still aiming at him, so Magnus used his speed to dash as quickly as possible to his side as the enemy's sword sliced clean through the platform again, but since this one was longer than the other, it didn't break apart like the other side did. But Magnus saw an opening he could take. It was risky, but he had to do it to relieve himself of the situation. Taking three shurikens and coating them with flames again, he tossed them downwards as they were aimed at the jets themselves. They stabbed deeply into the jetback as it hummed before exploding on the samurai's back.
The leader still could fly upwards a bit before it completely died out on him, managing to ascend high enough for him to plant his feet onto another pillar and launched himself towards the platform...but that's exactly what Magnus wanted. The moment the reploid was coming near him, he jumped off the platform and used a burst of speed from his feet to push himself upwards as if he were flying. The samurai bot didn't expect this as Magnus came at him too fast, the cyborg crashing himself into the enemy as they both smashed into the pillar so hard that it began to break apart, the leader roid sustaining nearly all the damage since it was his back that was crashed into it. They both dropped down slowly, but the leader ignored his pain for now as he and Magnus clashed blades countless times during their descent.
By the time they reached ground level, Magnus fell down with all his weight applied, then rolled to his side as he hit the floor since his synthetic legs were built in a way to land safely from high altitudes without damaging them too much. Since they were indoors, it wasn't high enough to affect him at all. His enemy, however, still sustained some damage from being rammed into the pillar, so he fell down hard on his back. Now was his chance! He ran as far as his legs could take him, then leaped upwards before dropping back on the downed opponent at an attempt to finish him off. However, the leader managed to roll safely out the way despite his injures. That was quite the endurance he possessed, as he stood to his feet immediately. Magnus had to admit that as far as strength and defense goes, he was completely outclassed.
The samurai roid's eyes gleamed brightly as he spun his sword with both hands extremely fast to where the very wind itself took physical form. Then after a while, electricity began surging around the blade until he swung it downwards to smash onto the floor, then pulled it upwards as an enormous pillar of lightning sped towards Magnus, who was caught off guard by the attack. It came too suddenly and even he couldn't move in time to avoid it. He simply held his Phoenix Edge in front of him in a blocking stance as the roaring thunder smashed upon him, feeling the intense volts of lightning zapping and surging throughout his body, yelling out in agony before it rocketed him backwards into some crates where he crashed into afterwards. The debris fell and buried him alive as the enemy laughed triumphantly. He then walked towards the seemingly defeated ninja as he was still buried underneath the debris.
"...You've put up a marvelous battle, but your life ends here. Still a shame we couldn't be allies." and with that, the samurai roid raised his blade upwards, then pointed it down try and stab his sword into the downed mercenary...but he didn't expect Magnus to suddenly jump out from the rubble and deliver a fiery punch to the center of his face.
"...Don't...underestimate me...!" The fatigued cyborg said as he managed to send the opponent flying backwards. He could barely stand on his feet from how powerful that lightning pillar was, having blood falling down the side of his face and his body damaged badly, but not severe. Before his opponent had time to recover, he was forced to go all out now. Performing two hands signs, he was using his secret ninjutsu technique again that required hand signs to activate. When the fiery aura showed itself, Magnus's two fire clones emerged from the two fire balls released. The recovering samurai realized this, not entirely believing his own sight for a moment there. This was his last chance. His enemy was still damaged from both his punch and the pillar ramming from earlier. All he needed was one opening for he and his clones to manipulate...
After the opponent recovered, he charged forth and so did Magnus and his two fire clones. Just as the samurai roid swung his blade horizontally to try and strike them all at once, Magnus and his clones leaped completely over the blade and drop kicked the leader in his chest consecutively. He withstood the blows, but the cyborg and his clones began running around him so fast and striking multiple sections of his body, as well as the opponent's sword. After just about all of his vital points were struck, they now just proceeded to slicing the every living crap out of him. Even with his high endurance, his body was giving out on him as the clones disappeared and Magnus severed the samurai roid's sword arm clean from his body after the sword's blade was severely damaged. There was no hope for his opponent to make a comeback after this. Deciding to just finish him off, Magnus reappeared in front of the roid and dealt a single thrust of his sword through the enemy's chest.
"...It's over." The cyborg spoke in a low and saddened tone as he shut his eyes. In the end, he never did want to kill the leader...nor did he want to take the lives of all the other rogues mavericks from earlier. But he was left with little choice if this 'organization' was going to be after him anyway. Just as he was going to pull his blade out, the samurai roid gripped Magnus's Phoenix Edge with his one hand to stop him, the mechanical mask covering his mouth actually falling off and showing a smile on his face.
"...Thank you. I've finally...been set free from the shakles...of the organization." All life was beginning to fade from him as his eyes began to glow dimly, but still used the remaining of his life to speak. "...Finish the job...destroy my control chip. And take my weapon...as my personal thanks. Repair it...so it can be yours to use against the Forsaken. Farewell...and watch out for the organization's top dog...Diablo."
Magnus stared at him and listened as he spoke, not exactly sure if he wanted to do it. But it was a dying request...and he didn't like to turn those down. Shutting his eyes again as he clenched his teeth under his mask, he twisted the blade while it was still within his opponent, then brought the weapon upwards with all his might as he ripped the blade out from his chest to the top of the reploid's head, severing his entire top half and destroying the control chip in the process. He stared down at the corpse as he clenched his fist and deactivated his helmet and mask...there was nothing he could do for that reploid in the end. Just like how it was in the war...he couldn't save so many people. He couldn't ever call himself a hero, especially if he couldn't rescue a single life. From how the departing samurai bot spoke, he was likely controlled and forced to work for this shadowy organization. Not wanting to come to conclusions though, he realized the reploid's sword on the ground next to the severed arm and retrieved it in his other free hand, holding both his own and broken sword. In honor of the reploid he was forced to kill, he was going to abide and crush this organization with the help of the blade...but he was going to hold off on repairing it for now. He wanted to give the weapon a long rest for what it and it's previous owner had to go through.
--
The cyborg now exited the warehouse, still having both swords in hand as he slowly walked out...an angry, yet determined look in his eyes as he settled with a frown. As he was going to make his way out of the area, he thought back on the samurai's words once more. He basically requested Magnus to destroy this organization, the Forsaken. At first, all the cyborg was going to do was defend himself against their future attacks, but since they know he still lives from the eyes of his opponent, they'll come after him. He was absolutely disgusted with them now...so he was going to find a way to break them. But going against an entire organization of Rogue Mavericks was not an easy task to do alone. He could involve the hunters, but if they were going after him alone for now, then the task of destroying them was his alone.
Guess it was time to head to the arms dealer to deliver the news and receive his payment...but was the money even worth all the lives he took that were forced to work for the Forsaken? Of course not...that's just how the life of a mercenary goes.
End.
