It had been such a long time since Kai had been to Paris. All the wars, all the destruction, and this city had never lost it's moniker. Even in this day and age, it was still an outstanding spectacle of art and culture. And of course, Kai had been here for the same reason she went anywhere in this day and age, work.
She should take a vacation sometime. Just forget about work and go to some far off town in the middle of nowhere and just relax. No Hunters, no clients, no surveying, just relaxation. As it was, her job this time had been a bit trickier. They were moving an old relic of the first age of robotics, made by some old scientist...what was that name? Mikal? Eh, something like that. She didn't really care about the small round psuedo-robot she'd had to steal, it looked more like a ball of metal then anything else. But those relic hunters ate stuff like this up. Getting it had been easy for her, with her powers, but getting it to the drop off point had been...difficult to say the least. It seemed the item was missing for less then an hour when an entire team from the Far East Brigade had teleported in, and nearly sealed the city. She'd made it to her drop off point with minutes to spare, and with any luck they'd gotten it out of here without being discovered.
The theft was kept quiet, but the city knew something was going on. The Hunter and Police presence on the streets was obviously increased. But Kai was good at acting like she had no idea what was going on. It was three days after the heist, and she hadn't had to dodge a Hunter or Cop yet, so she figured they likely got away with the item. Now she was just window shopping, enjoying the looks of some of the Paris fashions. They certainly knew a thing or two about vanity...
Kai sighed a bit as she looked through the glass storefront. She could fake such garments, but it would be just that, a fake. Smoke and mirrors, as her chassis was not something that could be removed or changed. Just once she'd actually like to try one on, maybe have some human skin on more then her face. But such was impossible in her state, that was an expensive procedure, which wasn't the real problem. The real problem would be them having to scan her first, and finding out what she was. That was not a risk she could make. A great thief, looking at the representation of the one thing she could never possess, that was some fitting irony. A second sigh breached her lips, as she looked upon the fabric. A passerby might confuse the sigh as one of simple covetous for the item itself.
